Canada skilled immigration

About the skilled program

Canadian skilled migration is points-tested and ranking-based. When you submit your eligibility assessment you will receive an indicative Federal Skilled Worker score and an Express Entry CRS estimate based on the answers you provide. If you do not meet the minimum requirements, you may not be ready to enter the pool yet. If your score is competitive, you should explore your options further.

You must be able to provide evidence for the claims you make in any official application. To estimate your position, take the eligibility assessment and then review where you may be able to improve your score.

With permanent residence, you can

  • live in Canada as a permanent resident
  • work, study, and settle in any province or territory
  • access public health care once provincial rules are met
  • include eligible family members in your plan
  • if eligible, progress toward Canadian citizenship

How long you can stay

Permanent residence can let you stay in Canada indefinitely, provided you continue to meet residency obligations and comply with Canadian laws.

Include family

You may be able to include eligible family members in your migration plan, including a spouse or partner and dependent children.
